11) Tae Kwon Do is FUN!

Martial arts are a tried and trusted way to help your child enjoy being active, grow in confidence and make new friends. Even though they are engaging in an all-encompassing physical workout, our students say they enjoy being away from a TV or computer screen, and would rather be out on the mat practicing their kicks. Martial arts classes are incredibly positive, high-energy sessions that make it easy for students to want to work hard. When students apply themselves with dedication and are guided with great instruction, they are guaranteed to enjoy the training. And at our school, we believe in a constant rewards system to help children stay motivated and excited – and it works. No child is ever left on the bench. All of this ensures each child is empowered to reach their personal potential…while enjoying every minute!

12) Tae Kwon Do Teaches Valuable and Lifesaving Self Defense Skills

As society contains a multitude of threats, danger and risk, one of our primary concerns will always be safety – whether it be for ourselves or for our loved ones. Especially our children. It is important to give them the ability to protect themselves. A great way to do this is to help them develop essential self-defense skills through Tae Kwon Do. It is a very healthy, confidence-boosting outlet as size doesn’t matter (i.e.: a larger opponent does not necessarily always triumph against a smaller one). This is because martial arts encourage the student to develop fighting and defensive techniques using leverage, as opposed to strength. It gives the student the opportunity to learn how to defend themselves against an attacker in a dangerous situations. It teaches the development of confidence and instinct, which ultimately increases your odds of being safe and able to protect yourself against against unwanted attacks.

13) Tae Kwon Do Can Be a Career!

Many of the teachers at our school became Tae Kwon Do teachers after proving their dedication as students in our classes. They followed their passion for martial arts, intently followed the curriculum and the development of both physical and mental discipline…and it became their career! The path of discovery led them to find their true calling. It can also be a career in a different way, such as for those showcasing unique talent and aiming to compete in the Olympics. No matter what the end goal is: to compete professionally, or teach others about the physical, mental and emotional benefits of learning Tae Kwon Do, a career in martial arts is a very rewarding and worthwhile one. It goes to show that it is not just a “sport”. It is a lifestyle.

14) Tae Kwon Do Offers Lifelong Learning

Tae Kwon Do is a great positive social outlet through which all students consistently achieve personal growth. Not only that, but it helps them develop skills to use outside the classroom, on a long-term basis. We have seen our students become more focused and have the ability to overcome any challenge they may face in their life, if it is a tough assignment at school, a bully, job interview or developing relationships. Mental discipline is a huge part of Tae Kwon Do training, and has long-lasting effects on the student – taking them on an educational learning curve far beyond the classroom.

15) Tae Kwon Do Allows You To Explore Other Cultures

When taking part in our classes, most students become curious about the origin of the techniques and application of Tae Kwon Do in western society. The truth is, the philosophy behind each individual martial art form is shaped almost entirely by its history and culture. This is why we integrate it heavily into our classes and teach students its distinct identity as a martial art.

So, it goes without saying that while it may be characterized by sparring techniques and high kicks, Tae Kwon Do is so much more than just a physical activity. And that is what we demonstrate through our teaching. On top of teaching about the history and culture behind Tae Kwon Do philosophy, integrated within our curriculum is a heavy focus on mental and ethical discipline as well as personal development – this offers the student a glimpse into what is considered important in Tae Kwon Do culture. They can apply these philosophies in all facets of life, both in and out of the classroom.
